I have been making money from Facebook for quite some time now and i get a lot of people asking me how i go about doing it so i decided to write a post on the basics. What most people dont understand is that there is thousands to be made from taking advantage of a few features on Facebook and then by simply monetizing those methods you can generate almost unlimited income.
First of all there are a few differences between a Fan Page and a Group that you need to know as this will affect your Monetizing approach.

Starting a Group
The main benefit from starting a Group is the ability to “Message All Members” however this is not available once your group reaches 5000 people so if you can keep it just under then you have a great chance of making money by sending the same type of messages you would do on a general Mailing List.

Starting a Fan Page – Quickest Way to Make Money
A Fan Page is a little different as you have a lot less options however it is very easy to make money from. The main difference is revealed once “Edit Page” is clicked. Scroll down to the bottom and you will notice “Static FBML”, you need to add this to your Page.
Once you have added Static FBML to your Page you need to click “Application Settings” and set it up as follows…
You can create a custom tab for your Fan Page by clicking “Edit” under “Applications > FBML” and you should see something like this

Change “Box Title” to whatever you want the Tab labelled and then just enter your HTML in the “FBML:” box. Your Tab should then look something like this on your Fan Page…
This “Tab” is how to generate fans as you can create a custom page with HTML to force a user to click “Like” before content is revealed like so…
Then all you have to do is set this custom Tab as the default landing page for your Fan Page so that whenever someone views it they are forced to click Like before they can do anything else.
To set this Tab as the default click “Edit Page” and then under Wall Settings click Edit and then set the Tab you just created as the “Default Landing Tab for Everyone Else:”, like this…
Making Money from your Facebook Fan Page
Once you have your Facebook Fan Page setup with FBML all you need to do is setup a simple landing page on your website with content directly relevant to the reason why they joined your Fan Page in the first place and reveal the Link when “Like” is pressed.
This could be an Image, Video or File and then just use CPALead to hide the content and force a user to complete a Survey to view it, simple as that. You could even build a Mailing List that is related to your Fan Page and sell products that would appeal to your Members.
